About

Bowling Green State University Graduate Student Senate (GSS) represents and advocates for graduate students by participating in the shared governance of the University. GSS endeavors to enhance graduate students’ academic and social experiences during their time at BGSU.

GSS works for a higher quality experience for graduate students at BGSU, striving for improvements in every area, from support for graduate assistants to social and cultural engagement. GSS performs this work through active representation on University committees, through development and maintenance of relationships with administration, faculty, and staff, as well as through legislative processes in the General Assembly.

GSS is composed of a Senate Executive Committee (SEC) and a General Assembly (GA).  Elected officials and appointed chairs comprise the SEC. These individuals serve GSS as leaders, who facilitate exchange of information, coordinate and plan events and awards, and give voice to graduate student concerns. The General Assembly is a forum in which senators from each of the academic departments and programs, and graduate student organizations, present and attend to the concerns and needs of their constituents.
